kolamba kamatha festival

welcome to

kolamba kamatha festival (kkf)

march 27th – 30th

our people’s festival of the dramatic arts – is a nexus for celebrating and mentoring excellence in Sri Lankan theatre.

join us as we unite the undeniable talent, verve and ingenuity of Sri Lanka in staging our stories for the world.

‘kolamba kamatha’

our venue name recalls the space where farmers thresh and store their paddy after harvest – a place of activity & groundedness which we believe has a natural synergy to the act of storytelling and the passing on of our stories of everyday living and humanity through vibrant enactment and togetherness.

kolamba kamatha is made up of 6 performance spaces and was opened at the BMICH in November 2022 to provide professional and student theatre & dance practitioners of differing means with much-needed accessible performance & practice spaces within which they can create and present work that reflects Sri Lanka’s historical & contemporary productions in locally and internationally acclaimed theatre and dance.
